Since being founded in 1999, Opera Noir has touched the lives of more than 15,000 children with the beauty of the Arts and the benefits of Arts Education. Most of those children have been from under-served communities, in many cases providing their first exposure to the Arts. In February 2010, Opera Noir will be presenting, “Soul Sistahs”; a sassy, soulful stage show featuring J. Rosalynn Smith-Clark, that celebrates the accomplishments of African American Female Performers.

In addition to ticketed performances for the General Public, Opera Noir will provide three (3) Free Student Performances for which we are seeking sponsorship partners. Your contribution will allow Opera Noir to make sure that no child is excluded due to lack of funds, or lack of transportation, as we will be providing buses to bring the students to the theatre. For so many people, these are frightening and perilous times-especially for the children in the under-served communities that Opera Noir has so faithfully served over the past ten years.

Now, more than ever, we must continue to provide these children with hope, and constructive means by which to express their hopes, fears, dreams, and concerns.

Opera Noir believes that the leaders of tomorrow need to have an understanding and appreciation of how the arts and entertainment shape our world. Our free student performances expose students to career opportunities in the arts and to numerous employment opportunities behind the scenes. By introducing students to our “behind the scenes” Production Team, and exposing them to career opportunities in the Arts & Entertainment Field, we provide an alternative to children being in unsupervised settings.

Your sponsorship can greatly impact the life of a child. Opera Noir Founder,
J. Rosalynn Smith-Clark, believes that “the stage should reflect the world that we live in, and children of color need to see people who look like them on the stage”.

Thank you for your most favorable response in making the arts accessible to all communities. Additionally, we encourage and look forward to you joining us for an evening of songs, sass, and sophistication, as only a “Soul Sistah” can do it!

Sincerely,

J. Rosalynn Smith-Clark
